Google signs first fusion power deal with MIT spinout Commonwealth Fusion Systems

  • Alphabet Inc's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Google has announced its first commercial deal in fusion energy, agreeing to purchase 200 megawatts of power from Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS), a company spun out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The electricity will come from ARC, a planned fusion power station in Chesterfield County, Virginia, which CFS claims will be the world's first grid-scale fusion facility.
